Editorial Policy
Every article on Tested by Robby is held to a consistent standard. Here's how we create content and why you can trust our recommendations.
Hands-On Testing
Whenever possible, our reviews are based on real, hands-on experience with the product. We use items in their intended environment — golf clubs on the course, tools on actual projects, cat products with real cats. When a review is based on research and specifications rather than personal testing, we clearly state that.
Editorial Independence
Our opinions are never for sale. We earn revenue through affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure), but this never influences our ratings or recommendations. We frequently recommend products with lower commissions over those with higher ones, and we regularly point out flaws in products we're affiliated with.
Review Process
- Research — We identify products worth reviewing based on reader interest, search demand, and personal experience.
- Testing — Products are used in real-world conditions over a meaningful period of time (not a 5-minute unboxing).
- Writing — Articles are drafted with specific details, data points, and honest assessments.
- Review — Every article is reviewed by our editorial team before publication for accuracy and fairness.
- Updates — Published articles are periodically updated when prices change, new models are released, or our experience changes.
Corrections
If you spot an error in any of our articles — wrong price, incorrect spec, outdated information — please let us know and we'll fix it promptly. We clearly note significant corrections in the article.
What We Won't Do
- Publish a review of something we haven't used without clearly disclosing it
- Let affiliate commissions influence our recommendations
- Accept payment for positive reviews
- Use fake testimonials or fabricated data
- Copy or paraphrase other review sites
